ALT-FOLKSINGER BRINGS ÒSHARP AS A
THIMBLEÓ TOUR TO SEATTLE
Guinness-World-Record-Setting Harvey
Returns To Conor Byrne
(DAVIS, CA) August 17, 2006 - - Lis
HarveyÕs Sharp As A Thimble Tour will stop in Seattle Tuesday, September
12. The artist will give an early
concert at the Conor Byrne Pub, from 7:00pm-8:30 (show listing below). THE WASHINGTON POST calls this
well-traveled indie Òa romantic alright, but not the empty-headed sort,Ó noting
her world-weary ballads and wry ditties are both ÒquirkyÓ and Òmemorable.Ó A 2006 Kerrville Folk Festival Finalist
(Texas) and an Emerging Artist at the 2005 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (New
York), the all-terrain folksinger ((formerly of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New
HampshireÉ and now Northern California) can be difficult to pin down. For example, she is the only folksinger
ever to set a Guinness World Recordª, with a solo tour of all 50 states in 60
days. That may be a kitschy aside,
but it was the first in recorded history, and brought HarveyÕs music to a wider
audience (via NPR, Car Talk,
CNN, the Associated Press, RollingStone.com, and etcetera). She has opened for artists as diverse
as Denali (Jade Tree Records), Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons, Tracy
Grammer (Signature Sounds), Melissa Ferrick – and toured throughout the
past year as support for Girlyman (Daemon Records). This fallÕs solo Sharp As A Thimble Tour may not win Harvey
another spot with RipleyÕs Believe It Or Not, but it is named for a forthcoming
record: her fifth CD release, slated for January 2007.

THE
MUSIC: Alt-americana folksinger
Lis Harvey draws "spring-stream songs" (DIRTY LINEN) from literary,
classical, and late-twentieth-century, moody-pop roots. Born in Boston and forged all over the
country, Harvey uses fingerstyle guitar and voice to create jazzy storyscapes
that crackle, brood and purr.
Onstage and on the stereo, her work speaks to late nights and long
drives home. She currently lives near Sacramento,
California. For more information,

"Anything at All's
observation that 'we're all hopped up on free will' is as apt a summary of
life's imperfection as anyone's attempted since Edie Brickell." - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
"Hard-touring
folk-popper Lis Harvey is capable of inspiring smiles even when singing about
heartbreak... Her warm, inviting voiceÉ can hold a room captive.Ó - THE ONION
"One of my favorite
discoveries of the yearÉ a smart, quirky, unique voice with things to say about
love, life & death, and the freedom to choose." - Pat Langston,
PENGUIN EGGS, NO DEPRESSION
Ò[Lis Harvey is] a
delicate balance of honesty and beautyÉ a butterfly right out of the
cocoon." - CLEVELAND FREE
